District Benchmark Test
February 13, 2008
All students who do not pass this test or
barely pass will be subject to mandatory Saturday
tutorials!
Welcome to 8th grade history
America from the
beginning through the Civil War.
Our goal as history teachers is not only to help you pass TAKS but also
to give you a true understanding and love of history. In April you will take a TAKS test for
American History that will demonstrate all that you have learned throughout the
year. You will be required to keep
an Interactive Student Notebook (ISN).
This notebook must be in class everyday as it is the source of the
majority of your grades. Everything
you need to study for tests and TAKS is in the ISN. The activities we do in class may not be
what you have usually done in history, but they are activities that will help
you understand and remember the events of the past. Please participate actively
and be part of your success.
Grading policy
50% Daily work (notebook assignments, quizzes, warm-ups,
TAKS practice, etc.)
50% Major work (tests and projects)
It is the policy of the history department that all
assignments must be completed to the standards of an 8th grader in
order for you to be successful. You
will be required to complete all assignments. District late penalties will
apply.
