Are
you a POPS? What is that, you
ask? Parents
of Ponies Singing POPS happens to be the newly formed booster club for the parents of Lamar Junior High Choir students whom are interested in volunteering at choir-related activities or providing financial aid to LJH Choirs. All parents are encouraged to become members, and membership is free!!! There are many fund-raising activities which are sponsored by POPS. These fund raisers may help pay for an annual trip to a choir music festival, new uniforms, and any other expense incurred which is not covered by LCISD funds. Because this is our inaugural year of the booster club at LJH, we really need your help. Once you indicate interest in membership, an informational will be held. If this is your niche, I - along with the students - humbly solicit your help. We Need You! ___________________________________________________________________________
The Ashton J. Green Award For Excellence in Music The Award for Excellence in Music was established in 2009 and is named for Ashton J. Green, who had been in the program for two years. It is an annual rotating award honoring the individual who, during their time in the Lamar Junior High School choral program, has represented the ideals and honor of the choir most clearly and consistently. The chorister’s name is added to the plaque, and they also receive a small personalized award for their efforts on behalf of the choir. It is an honor highly esteemed among all the choristers. The Award For Excellence in Music was established by John T. Holiday, Jr., Lamar Junior High School Choir Director, to recognize an outstanding eighth(8th) grade student from Lamar Junior High School’s choral program. Eligibility:

and parent and returned to Mr. Fernau as soon as possible.
Ÿ
LJH choir is a year-long
elective.
Ÿ The Pony Choir T-shirt is $20.00. T-shirts, which are required, will be worn at informal activities for which the choir is allowed to perform (i.e. Game days, assemblies, spirit days etc..). If there is any circumstance which prevents you from purchasing the t-shirt, please see Mr. Fernau as soon as possible.
Ÿ Major and final grades are based on participation in choir performances. Required performance dates are denoted by an asterisk (*) on the calendar posted below. The times and dates listed are subject to change.
Ÿ
We will issue formal dresses
and tuxedos in the coming weeks.
All students must hem their dress/pants; however, clothing may
NOT be cut prior to hemming.
These uniforms are re-issued each year.
Ÿ
Eligibility! No Pass……No Sing!!!! If you are failing any courses
during the semester, you - by Texas Education Association rules &
regulations mandate - will not be permitted to participate in any choral
activities. This includes, but

result in the conductor asking the student to not return for the Spring
