WELCOME 7TH GRADERS! Welcome to Lamar Junior High. I am Karl Carlton, your assistant principal for last names L-Z. I grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and am a graduate of Oklahoma State University (1995). GO POKES! I moved to Houston in 1997 where I began teaching 8th grade English and coaching football, basketball, and soccer at Killough Middle School in Alief ISD. In 1999, I transferred to Katy ISD where I taught 8th grade English and coached football, basketball, and track at Beck Junior High. The next year, I transferred to McMeans Junior High where I taught Physical Education and coached football, basketball, and track. In 2003, I obtained my Master's Degree in Educational Administration. That same year I accepted a position as an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High and am in my sixth year. I am also currently a doctoral student at Texas A&M University pursuing a doctorate in Educational Administration and will graduate in May 2010. In March, my wife, Ginger, and I will celebrate our 9th anniversary. We have two daughters, Lauren (6 1/2) and Jillian (1 1/2). I love to play golf, travel, and spend time with my family. The junior high years can be a very exciting and challenging time for parents and students alike. Lamar Junior High is dedicated to making sure every child reaches their full potential, leaving no child behind. Our staff is the best and will challenge your child while maintaining a caring and safe environment so that your child reaches his/her maximum potential. Learning is a collaborative effort, and we encourage all parents to become involved in their child's education. If you need to contact me, please feel free to call me at 832-223-3212, or e-mail me at kcarlton@lcisd.org. |
