SCHOOL NURSE’S CORNER
Howdy! My
name is Nancy Nowak. I have
been the school nurse at Williams Elementary School for 25
years.
Briefly, all students entering LCISD must provide current
immunization records.
Medications that need to be given during the school day must
be in the original container. Parents must send a permission note with
instructions.
Medication to be given or kept at school for more than six
weeks must have a LCISD Physician’s Permit For Administration Of
Medication In School completed by a doctor and the parent.
Yearly health screenings for height, weight, vision, hearing,
and Acanthosis Nigricans are done by the school nurse. Students not
passing vision, hearing and
Acanthosis Nigricans screenings are sent referral notes home
to the parents.
Lastly, a parent or
guardian will need to pick up their child in the following
circumstances:
-temperature of 100 or above
-illnesses or injuries that require a doctor’s
attention
-medical emergencies
-head or body lice.
