Lamar CISD looking to round up Pre-K and Kindergarten students

Do you have a child who is four or about to be?

Lamar CISD has both full-day and half-day pre-kindergarten programs. A student must be four-years-old on or before Sept. 1 AND meet one the following requirements to enter the pre-kindergarten program:

  • Be unable to speak or comprehend English, or;
  • Qualify for free/reduced lunches, or;
  • Be homeless, or;
  • Is or has ever been in conservatorship of the Dept. of Family and Protective Services, or; 
  • Is the dependent child of an active U.S. Armed Forces member, or the dependent of a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who has been injured or killed while on active duty.

    Acceptable documentation of eligibility for free or reduced meals includes: 

  • Current paycheck stub; or 
  • Current pay envelope; or 
  • Letter from employer stating gross wages paid and how often they are paid; or 
    Unemployment, Worker’s Compensation or Disability payment stub.

Acceptable documentation for self-employment income include business or farming documents, such as ledger books and/or self-issued paycheck stub or last year’s tax return. Acceptable documentation for cash income include a letter from the employer stating wages paid and frequency.

Lamar CISD will also hold its annual Kindergarten Roundup, April 25-29. Parents are encouraged to beat the rush and register children in advance of the coming school year.

Parents/Guardians may register online here. If you don’t have a computer at home parents are welcome to come to their campus to utilize the computers there.

If you don’t know in which Lamar CISD campus-zone you are residing, look for the Find My Bus/School button at the top of the Lamar CISD web page, or go to any Lamar CISD school for assistance.

After you have completed the online portion of the registration process, parents/guardians can finish the registration process during Kindergarten Roundup Week.

Parents should bring the following items to complete the registration process:
• Certified Birth Certificate;
• Original Social Security card for the child;
• Proof of address such as a utility bill, voter registration card, or lease agreement; and
• Record of shots.
